Every week at Wonderhood brings a new hands-on theme to explore through making, movement, music and time outdoors.

Explore The Wonder of Our Term 3 Themes
One week we’ll be building a miniature village; the next, shaking up a bush orchestra or delivering very important mail through the forest.
Across Term 3, children will make birds’ nests, sort seeds and beans, stir a muddy pot of Wombat Stew, mix woodland brews, care for toy wildlife patients and finish behind the counter of our very own Bush Bakery. Every theme becomes a small world of movement, music, sensory play, making and time outdoors, with a new job to do and plenty for curious hands to get stuck into. Come every week, or choose the theme your child would most love to step into!
Wonderhood Village: Shelters & Structures
Week 1Tuesday 21st & Wednesday 22nd July
Children will become Wonderhood builders as they collect sticks, rocks and other natural materials, carry them through our builder course and help create a shared miniature village. We’ll make roads, bridges, homes and places for the little wooden people to live. Children will also paint their own wooden person to take home and begin a Wonderhood village of their own.
Week 2Tuesday 28th & Wednesday 29th July
Nature Sound Laboratory
We’ll head outside to listen for birds, footsteps, rustling leaves and other sounds hiding around us. Children will collect a few safe natural materials, experiment with tapping and shaking, then make their own nature shaker to use in our Wonderhood Bush Orchestra!
The Forest Post Office will be busy creating, sorting and delivering messages. Children will make a nature postcard, match it to an animal address and carry it along our delivery trail to the right forest mailbox. There’ll be postal bags, stamps, and plenty of mail to deliver!
Week 3Tuesday 4th & Wednesday 5th August
The Wonderhood Forest Post Office
Children will explore how birds use grass, mud, feathers, bark and twigs to make a safe place for their eggs. We’ll gather nesting materials, create small air dried clay nests to take home!
Week 4Tuesday 11th & Wednesday 12th August
Wonderhood Nest Makers
The Wonderhood Seed Library & Beans Festival
We’ll look closely at seeds, beans and pods in all sorts of colours, shapes and sizes. Children will use scoops, tongs, bowls and magnifying glasses to sort and explore the collection, then help organise our little Seed Library and prepare a seed packet to take home.
Week 5Tuesday 18th & Wednesday 19th August
Wonderhood Book Week: Wombat Stew
For Book Week, we’ll bring Wombat Stew to life with Australian animal movements, ingredient collecting and plenty of muddy mixing. Children can help add feathers, gumnuts, pretend bugs and other story ingredients to the pot, then create their own version of Wombat Stew through sensory play. Dressing up as a favourite book character is welcome, but completely optional!
Week 6Tuesday 25th and Wednesday 26th August
Woodland Wizards: Forest Brews & Wand Making
Week 7Tuesday 1st September & Wednesday 2nd September
This week, children will become Woodland Wizards and explore a table filled with herbs, flowers, citrus and colourful water. They’ll crush, pour and mix their own forest brews using droppers, funnels and test tubes. Each child will also create and name their own nature wand to take home.
Week 8Tuesday 8th September & Wednesday 9th September
Wonderhood Wildlife Hospital
Our toy wildlife patients will need gentle hands and plenty of care. Children will choose an animal, listen to its heartbeat, weigh and measure it, give it a brush or bandage and help it rest. When the animal is ready, they’ll return it to the forest, grassland or wetland!
The Wonderhood Bush Bakery Festival!
We’ll finish the term by opening our own Bush Bakery. Children will wear chef hats, roll and shape dough, choose natural decorations and make their own pretend bakery creations. They’ll also have a chance to take an order, carry a tray and serve their family at our little Wonderhood café before we celebrate the end of term together!
Week 9Tuesday 15th September & Wednesday 16th September
